A founding partner of Pendleton Group, Chip Pearson brings Pendleton clients more than 30 years’ of experience in business development strategy, governmental relations, and real estate and economic development.
Chip and his brother ran a family real estate development, site work, and utility company with offices in Atlanta and Charlotte for nearly 25 years. In that time they built or developed more than 50,000 residential lots in subdivision projects in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina for the nation’s largest homebuilders, including Ashton Woods, Centex Homes, MDC, Pulte Homes, Ryland Homes, Toll Brothers and other large national and regional builders. Chip remains as a partner in Cold River Land Management, a specialist in management and workouts of residential and distressed properties in the southeast.
In his nearly 25 years as a developer and contractor, Chip managed up to 400 employees in multiple states and work sites. Overall business strategy along with planning of growth and markets was his primary role as president. He was also responsible for fleet management and acquisition and disposal of equipment. His company acquired two quarry services companies, which expanded to serve large national construction aggregate producers in the southeast, and also started an in-house residential engineering and site design company.
Chip has a long history of governmental service, having served vice chairman as the Georgia Republican Party, and later as State Senator in Georgia District 51, where he represented eight counties. Elected for three terms, he also served as Chairman of the Senate Economic Development Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Transportation Committee.
A former member of the Board of Industry Trade and Tourism (now Georgia Department of Economic Development,) Pearson is a founding board member of the First Citizens Bank of Georgia. An Eagle Scout, he serves on the board of the Northeast Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He has also served as a member of the Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Georgia Utility Contractors Association, Nation Federation of Independent Business, Georgia Cattleman’s Association and Rotary International.
A licensed pilot, Chip graduated from Shorter College with a BS in Business Management.
