Moderated by United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Yvette Cook, the panel included Craig Lesser, founder of Pendleton Group and former Georgia commissioner of economic development.

Atlanta, GA – June 12, 2013 – Daraka Satcher, Chief Operating Officer of Pendleton Group, joins the 2014 class of Leadership Atlanta. Selected from a pool of hundreds of exceptional candidates, Satcher accepted congratulations from the Georgia-based economic development firm that he helps lead.
“It’s a wonderful honor joining a community that’s molded some of Atlanta’s most prominent leaders,” said Satcher, who also serves on the board of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta and on the International Advisory Committee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. “I look forward to working with other leaders, learning more about our great city and making a greater collective impact.”
As COO of Pendleton Group, Satcher is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day operations, attracting new clients and brokering partnerships. He previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the United States Department of Commerce.
Before his presidential appointment, Satcher served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) and Legislative Director in the office of Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN). He earned a J.D. from Emory University School of Law and a B.A. in political science from Morehouse College.

The former commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Devel-opment (GDEcD), Lesser has joined the private sector as a consultant, providing economic development and government affairs advice and strategy. While at GDEcD (2004-2007), new investment and expansion announcements in Georgia totaled more than $8 billion and created more than 40,000 new jobs. Lesser also chairs the board of the World Chamber of Commerce.
